How To Make Better Choices

“You are who you are today, because of the choices you made yesterday”

Everything you are right now is a result of the choices that you have made in life. Everyday you make choices, and those choices you have made all add up and make you who you are. Choice is a wonderful thing. The freedom to dictate what you do in any given situation is something you have, and nobody can ever take that away from you. There is good news about this, and there is also slightly bad news about this too, but let’s start with the good news.

  1. The good news is that this privilege of freewill to choose can be very productive.
  2. The bad news is that this privilege of freewill to choose can be very destructive.

You have to be extremely cautious about the choices you make in life, because the repercussions are 100% guaranteed. For every action there is a reaction, and for every choice there is a consequence. If you are let’s say (for example) ‘overweight’ and you make a choice to exercise daily and eat healthy, there’s going to be a consequence, and that consequence is that you are going to lose some weight. That’s the consequence. However, if you make a choice to not exercise daily and to not eat healthy, there’s also going to be a consequence, and that consequence is that you are going to gain some weight. Again, that’s the consequence.

I can’t give you choices to make. I’m not you. You’re you. But what I can do is tell you how to make better choices, (for yourself). So… how do you make better choices?

The best way for you to make better choices is to think about what the repercussion of that choice will be BEFORE you make the choice.

Before you make a choice to:

  • [insert a choice you have to make]…

…ask yourself what you really really want, and then question what outcome you truly desire. Think about the repercussions of your actions. Are they going to benefit you or not? Before you decide to do anything, picture or visualize the outcome in your mind first. If the outcome is what you really want, go ahead and make that choice. If the outcome is not what you want – don’t make that choice. You’d be surprised how many people act without thinking, and that’s their favourite excuse. When they’ve made a bad decision, and then they are questioned about it, their response is normally, “I don’t know what I was thinking” – that’s right. You don’t know what you was thinking because you wasn’t thinking at all was you?

Think before you make a choice, and you’ll get better results.

That’s it.

Sounds simple doesn’t it?

Easier said than done!
